Minor Atom AA - Oshawa Minor Atom AA Ajax Break The Ice Tournament Champs
Submitted By Minor Atom AA Mgr on Wednesday, September 20, 2017
Congratulations to the Oshawa Minor Generals Minor Atom AA team on a successful championship weekend! These boys won the Break The Ice Championship in Ajax on September 10th, meeting and defeating Ajax Knights AA in a thrilling tournament final.

The weekend started off with a win against the Kingston Canadians in a 4-1 game.  Followed by an afternoon game against the Ajax Knights with a 5-3 win.  Later that evening the boys showed their endurance by playing their 3rd game for the day against North Durham Warriors with a 3-1 win.

Heading into Saturday undefeated and in first place they faced Kingston in the semi finals.  Without giving up their momentum they secured a 4-0 win.

On Sunday the boys played the championship game against The Ajax Knights. Ajax came strong and gained an early lead and held it.  Going into the third period with a score of 2-1 (Ajax), the Oshawa boys had to dig extra deep to keep their championship hopes alive.  Another goal by Ajax in the third was quickly answered by another goal by Oshawa who picked up their pace and managed to tie the game in the third period with 7 seconds left to spare.   Oshawa managed to score the winning goal in the overtime period ending the game 4-3 Oshawa.

It was a great way to start off our season and it was a fun weekend for the players on and off the ice.  The coaching staff would like to acknowledge and thank all families and players for their dedication over the weekend. It was a great opportunity for these athletes as they continue to develop and show improvement in their game.

Let's go Generals!
