The U16 A Oshawa Generals team White recently attended the CAN/AM Challenge Cup tournament in Montreal where they managed to bring home the Gold Medal. The team went an impressive 3 wins and 1 loss in the round robin play scoring 20 goals for and only allowing 7 against. The teams goaltending, on ice effort and solid team play was crucial in getting Oshawa through to the Gold Medal game Sunday morning where the team faced off against the only team they lost to in the round robin, The Toronto Aeros.
A very exciting and competitive back and forth championship game saw the game remain scoreless after 2 periods of play, which made for a very exciting 3rd period finale where the Generals were able to score 3 goals in the final 5 minutes to secure the Gold Medal.
During the CAN/AM skills events, the Gen’s also managed to take 1st place in the goalie division, where Landon Watts made some incredible highlight real saves that had the crowd on their feet during the shootout event stopping all 6 shooters. Evan Luck managed to receive runner up honors (2nd out of 9 shooters) in the shootout category only missing 1 of his 6 attempts. The team showed off their impressive skating and speed with Caleb Mackie, Alex Johnston, Kevin Watson and Noah VanMil bringing home a clear 1st place win in the relay skating challenge.
Throughout the weekend, the team showcased exceptional teamwork, skill, and determination both on and off the ice. Several of the other team’s staff around the rink praised the Generals for their sportsmanship and class they showed throughout the weekend. Even the hotel staff complimented the team’s behavior and welcomed us back next season.
The team roster consists of forwards, Ryan Barge, Brayden Watkins, Caleb Mackie, Lucas McGrath, Evan Luck, Jaiden Leong, Kyle Bidgood, Antonio Ricciardi, Alex Johnston and Jacob Watts. On Defence, Kevin Watson, David Hunter, Noah VanMil, Rylan Keeler, Nathan Davidson and Dylan Jenkin. Goaltenders Landon Watts and Jackson Tilley. Team staff Mike Watkins, Mike Luck, Mike McGrath, Greg Jenkin, Jeff Watson and Hannah Jenkin.

The team would like to thank their parents, grandparents and fans for their continued support shown towards the team this season, especially during the tournament in Montreal. Since the start of November the team has managed an impressive record of 12 wins 2 ties and 5 losses.
