Peewee AE Wins Gold in Lake Placid
The Oshawa Minor General Peewee AE team traveled to Lake Placid Nov6th-Nov9th, 2014 for the CAN-AM Hockey Tournament. The goal for the Oshawa team was to win the Gold Medal.
Right from the opening ceremonies the team was focused and ready. Their first game on Thursday evening resulted in a 10-2 win against the Flames. The team proceeded to follow-up with a resounding 11-1 win against the Masconomet Chieftains the next day. With two games scheduled for Saturday, we knew that we had to be at the top of our game - both teams we were scheduled to play already held winning records so far in the tournament. We started and finished strong posting back to back wins of 5-0 and 6-0 against the Red Bank Generals and New Canaan Winter Club respectively.
The final game was against the Delaware Stars who finished 2nd in our division. Our team never lost sight of the objective and overwhelmed the Stars winning the game, finishing the tournament 5-0 and bringing back the Gold to Oshawa!
“We take hockey seriously and our boys spend a lot of hours on the ice each week and make a lot of sacrifices to be on the team. The parents sacrifice a lot to put their boys through the hockey system - a lot of travel, a lot of expense and a lot of time at the arenas just so their boys can live out a dream even if it's just for a short while. Players….We coach YOUR team but we are also fans of the game and you were truly AWESOME to watch this weekend...thanks for the experience”.
