Peewee AE White Win Pickering Spring Thaw Tournament
The Oshawa Minor Generals Peewee AE White team capped off a successful season (43-20-4) by winning the Pickering Spring Thaw Tournament.
Congratulations to the Peewee AE White players, staff and parents on fun and successful season.
The Peewee AE White team would defeat Ajax 4-1 in the opening game, tie a hardworking Port Perry 3-3 in Game 2 and also learn the lesson to never take another team lightly. Game 3 saw the Generals bounce back and skate to a convincing 3-1 victory over Pickering which was highlighted by Nathan Jackman's 50th goal of the season. Game 4 would see Oshawa play OMHA AE3 finalists Glanbrook Rangers; another solid skating, checking and passing game by the Gens would see them win 3-1 and finish the round robin in second place with a 3-0-1 record. The Semi final game was vs league rival and OMHA AE2 finalists Clarington Toros. Both teams started out strong and traded chances early but the Gens would get on the board first. The referee would then take over and keep Oshawa on the PK for over half the game, the team was stellar on the penalty kill only allowing one goal on 9 chances and even score a shorthanded goal. Despite the referee, Oshawa wouldn't be denied and scored the game winner mid way through the third for a 3-2 win. The Finals would be a rematch against Glanbrook who had knocked off Uxbridge in the other semi final. Another hard fought game which featured the AE White team at there best, although the team was shorthanded for over 10 minutes straight in the second and third periods the PK buckled down and killed all seven penalties they took in that time. In the end saw the boys skated away with a hard fought 3-1 victory! The Peewee AE White players are: Goalies - Quinn Ingram and Tristan DesLauriers. Defence - Austin Hewlett, Connor Allen, Deryn Lovgren, Aidan Sauve, Adam Parnell and Riley Babiy. Forwards - Josh King, Nathan Jackman. Owen DiManno, Jake Juliao, Brayden Farrow, Ethan Powell, Tyler Hammond, Austin Mayer and Tyler Coleman
