Minor Bantam AAA's finally defeat Whitby Wildcats
The Oshawa Minor Bantam AAA's defeated the Whitby Wildcats on Saturday night to advance to the 2nd round of the OMHA playdowns.
The 3 out of 5 series went the distance and was a fierce battle to the end. After dropping game one, 3 to 2, the Gens came back to win game two 3 to 1. After losing the pivotal game three by a 5 to 3 count, the boys were left with a daunting task....to beat a strong Whitby team that had eliminated them from the playoffs the last 4 of 5 years. The Gens came out flying in game four scoring 8 seconds into the game and not looking back. The game ended in a 6 to 1 victory and with a swing of momentum. Game 5 started out with the Gens back on their heels and going down 1 to 0. Once the Gens got on the board to make it 1 to 1 they were not going to be denied. Determination and discipline lead the Gens to a 7 to 2 victory and a birth into the 2nd round.
Round 2 is set with the top team in the West and winners of the OMHA Championships the last 2 seasons - Ajax Pickering Raiders. Game one is set for Saturday March 10 at the Delaney and O'Brien arena in Pickering with Game two back in Oshawa Tuesday March 13 at 8:30pm Legends pad 1.
