BIG NICKEL MAJOR AAA INTERNATIONAL HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

Bantam AAA places 3rd in The Sudbury Big Nickel tournament, losing only in overtime in the semi finals.

The Bantam AAA had excellent results this past weekend Nov 2-5th in Sudbury. They won the first 3 games against North Bay Trappers, Timmons North Stars, and Soo Greyhounds, losing only to Sudbury Nickel City Sons, who had some definite hometown support. Nevertheless, they secured a 2nd place seeding going into the semi finals on Sunday. The team faced the Ontario Hockey Academy in the semis. The boys played outstanding hockey on all 3 lines, keeping the puck in the opponents end and pressuring their goalie who made some unbelievable and somewhat "magical" saves throughout regulation play. Forced into overtime with a score of 0-0, things started getting tense.  With a 4 on 4, our boys did not back down, keeping the puck up in the Academy zone, but after an unfortunate turn of events, Ontario Hockey Academy slipped a goal in for the overtime win.The boys should be very proud of their performance. They played very well and worked hard as a team. Thank you to the parents for keeping the boys on track throughout the weekend. Thank you to the coaches and trainers Richard, Grant, Taylor, Laura for their dedication and positive guidance throughout the weekend. The team appreciates your hard work.
