Epic: when 17 players are led by our
trusted and fearless Head coach Brad Hancock to leave a tournament a stronger,
more confident team on and off the ice than when they first arrived. All
because Coach Brad Hancock has three simple rules: 1. give with 100% effort and
support each other 2. Play and communicate as a team; and 3. Have lots and lots
of fun.

Epic: is when our fun loving
assistant coach Charles Bosworth is always approachable and always there for
any reason for anybody and everybody on our team.

Epic is when 17 different families
(65 people) go out to dinner and we take over the entire restaurant like we are
at a family reunion –then try to give the entire bill to our patriarch of our hockey family Brad Hancock.

Epic is when our trainer David
Craven drives and spends over 4 hours with a player and his mom at the hospital
for a minor injury that did not even happen at the arena to make sure this child
has the best treatment.

Epic is when your assistant trainer
Scott MacDonell steps up as head trainer without skipping a beat.

Epic is when our defence Devon
Shetler , Finley MacDonell and Brock Cormier are determined and
relentlessly fight to help our goalie
Carson Chappell keep the puck out of our net.

Epic is when all the team fathers
organized a 3 on 3 mini stick tournament in the hotel for our players that
lasts almost 5 hours.

Epic is when our mighty defender
Marcus Benedict scores his first goal and dedicates this goal to his injured
defence partner.

Epic is when selfless power forwards
like Cole Roberts and Jackson Pollard know that back checking is equally as
important as the goals they scored.

Epic is when Coach Brad puts out an
appetizer platter of nice cheeses, gourmet meats and nuts for the moms and the player
siblings gathered in the hotel hallway without skipping a beat.

Epic is when our defenceman Gavin
Lewis scores from just inside the blue line.

Epic is when our wise assistant
coach Justin gets locked in the dressing room 1 minute before the starting faceoff
of the championship game.

Epic is when you see gifted forwards
Janessa Griffiths and Jordan Liscombe skating effortlessly and skillfully scoring.

Epic is when our strong wingers Nash
Davis , Caleb Bosworth and Nathan Craven selflessly pass the puck to their
fellow linesmen setting up countless goals for their team

Epic is when our fearless Xavier
Wesley returns to the ice the next day after having 5 staples in his head and
the entire team without hesitation names him the hardest worker.

Epic is when 17 kids behave and
listen so wonderfully when we say curfew is at 8 pm especially when they are
having so much fun.

Epic is when the entire team is
determined to protect the shutout that our goalie Ryder Fisher fiercely
earned in the semi-final game

Epic is when Dylan Hancock scores
the winning goal to take us to the gold medal game in overtime on a three
on three because his centre man makes a beautiful pass.

Epic is when parents are frantically
driving back home to take their other children to hockey but will drive back at
the wee hours just to be with our team this weekend.

Epic is when our talented and
proficient centre man Brody Latimer flawlessly buries the puck under pressure
on a penalty shot.

Epic is when not one player stands
out but the entire team stands out as MVPs

Epic is winning silver in the final game
but your coaches and families are so very proud because the entire team played
like gold.

Epic is the wonderful memories that
were created by the team and their families on and off the ice this past weekend,
because honestly it was priceless.

This is weekend for The Tyke 7 2017-2018
Red team truly defines why the game of hockey is Epic, it's not always about
winning gold medals but creating a lifetime of wonderful memories that are
gold.
This weekend will never be forgotten
because it was EPIC
