Generals Undefeated at Home!!!
Your Novice AAA Generals will finish their inaugural mini-season undefeated at Delpark Arena.  A huge feat I know to win 2 of 2 games at home!  But in this mini-season of a year we will take what we can get!  Of course we still have two home games to go to finish out this season and they will both be played at Campus Arena against Peterborough February 27th and Quinte March 1st.  Good seats are still available, check your regular ticket outlets for seats.

The boys had something to prove in last nights game against their cross-town rival the Whitby Wildcats after their embarrassing loss back on January 31st where the Wildcats laid an 8-4 beating on our lads.  Coach Corey and his staff were not impressed with the effort put forth in that game and expectations were very high that we would rise to the occasion in this game.  And rise they did!!!  By far the team’s best complete game of the season.  “I have been waiting all year for these boys to show us that game” Coach Josh said after the game.  “I knew we had it in us to play like we just did.  I couldn’t be prouder of this group at how far they have come so far this season.”

With stalwart defenceman Will Beattie on the injured reserve list with a bad forearm and sniper Emmett Elstob taking himself out of the lineup after warm-up due to illness, we were starting this game behind the eight ball.  The game started off with a mini breakaway by one of Whitby’s best players only to have the door shut on him by an incredible save by Brady Rancourt.  This set the tone for the game.  Although Whitby scored the first goal of the game, The Generals battled back to score right at the end of the first period by a hard driving to the net Brandt Nabigon after being set up by Charlie Lucas for the game tying goal.  The second period saw the Gennies carry the game for the most part showing that they can pass the puck and move around like a team that knows how to actually play this game of hockey.  Brandt Nabigon continued on doing what he does best and drove the net for his second goal of the game, period two ended tied 2 apiece.

Word on the street has it that the Whitby Coach said to his team between the 2nd and 3rd periods that the better team was going to win this game.  And boy was he right!  Nabigon completed his historic game by netting his third goal of the game for the team’s first ever hat trick!!  Putting us ahead 3-2.  There was another hat trick on this day though…a Gordie Howe Hat Trick was had by our leading scorer, Addison Dionne.  Addy assisted on Brandt’s third goal and buried and absolute laser beam top shelf to give the team a 4-2 lead and to round out the Gordie Howe Trick, he landed in the sin-bin way back in the first period for tripping.

In the last article, I went on and on about how great our defence is and promised a future write up about our forwards.  Stay tuned for that article.  This particular game was a complete game by the entire team.  Every player in a white Generals jersey played outstanding.

Big game on Thursday February 27th against the Peterborough Petes with whom we currently share 3rd place in the standings with.  The winner will retain sole possession of third spot behind Quinte and Central Ontario.
