On behalf of the Board for the Oshawa Minor Hockey
Association, the Development Committee is pleased to announce the appointment
of Jim Jackson as our Association’s newest coach mentor. For the balance of
this season, Jim will be responsible for mentoring our AAA coaches to provide
the assistance, guidance and mentorship program benefits that our coaches have
come to expect.
Jim is a proud graduate of the Oshawa Minor Hockey Association who was drafted in the first round by the Oshawa Generals in 1976. Following a very successful OHL career, Jim went on to play professionally for 10 years, including time with the Calgary Flames, the Colorado Flames, the Buffalo Sabres and the Rochester Americans.
Following his playing career Jim turned to coaching and has spent over 25 years coaching both men’s and women’s programs including most recently being the head coach for CWHL Clarkson Cup champions Markham Thunder in 2017-2018 and being named the CWHL Coach of year for 2018-2019.
As recognition for his outstanding contributions, Jim has also been inducted into both the Rochester and Oshawa Sports Halls of Fame.
With a resume that speaks for itself, we look forward to working with Jim and to having him mentor our AAA coaches. It should no doubt be a rewarding and successful experience for all involved.
