2018 Lake Placid Champions
Congratulations to the Minor Atom A team for their Gold Medal performance at the CHE Lake Placid American Cup tournament this past weekend!

This past weekend, Oct. 12th-14th, the Minor Atom A team lead by Head Coach Craig Gibson, Assistant Coach Kevin Bidgood, Assistant Coach Derek Dallman and trainers Adam Beck and Rob Dittrich, captured the gold medal after a come from behind win in a very impressive matchup.  The Gens took the division lead by going 2-1 in the round robin matches and earned a bye into the gold medal game.  The outstanding play by goalie Jack Ryan helped them in achieving this record.  Jack also won the skills competition for goalies in the shootout category by not allowing a single shot to get past him! Congratulations Jack!!  In the final game, The Massena Road Runners came out flying and took an early 2-0 lead.  If it wasn't for Jack's play, this score could have been far worse.  Goalie Quentin Gibson came in halfway thru and was able to keep every shot he faced out of the net.  Great performance Quen! With 1:30 left in the third and the game tied 2-2, Defenceman Matthew Adams capped off a fantastic personal tournament by netting the go ahead goal for the Gens.  Coach Craig called a timeout and was able to keep the boys focused on what their task for the next 1:30 mins was...Shut them down, no shots and hard pressure on the puck.  The team responded fantastically and was able to hold on to the 3-2 lead and capture the Gold Medal.  Forward Keston Beck-Hill was named player of the game and also tournament MVP for the Generals, Congratulations Keston on a fantastic performance!

The coaching staff wishes to say how proud they are of the boys hard work leading up to the tournament and we are all extremely proud to have been able to share this incredible moment with them all.  Keep up the hard work boys and continue your success for the rest of the 2018-2019 season.
