Minor Midget AAA's off to Championship weekend!!
The Oshawa Minor Midget AAA squad has done, what no other AAA team in Oshawa, has done, for quite some time.  They are off to the OMHA Championship Weekend.

The Gens defeated Ajax Pickering Raiders in the "back door" Play In game for the last spot in the Championship Weekend.  A one game, play and you're in, lose and you're done.  Well, the boys pulled it off.  After taking a 2-0 lead, things looked like they were going as hoped.  But the Raiders had other plans, and stormed back to tie it and send it into the 3rd period as tie game.  With 6:14 left, the Gens took the lead and played stifling defense to finish off the game and seal their ticket to the OMHA Championships this weekend.  Carter Bickle was stellar between the pipes.
The boys now travel to Belleville this weekend to battle it out with Quinte Red Devils, Whitby Wildcats, Southern Tier Admirals and Niagara North Stars for the OMHA Championship.

The Gens schedule is as follows: (All games are at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Center)
Fri March 6th 9am vs Whitby (MacKay Pad)
Fri March 6th 4pm vs Southern Tier (MacKay Pad)
Sat March 7th 11am vs Niagara North (MacKay Pad)
Sat March 7th 7pm vs Quinte (MacKay Pad)
Sun March 8th Bronze medal game 10:00am (3 vs 4) (CAA Pad)
Sun March 8th Gold medal game 12:30pm  (1 vs 2) (CAA Pad)

The top 4 teams get an automatic birth into the prestigious Minor Midget OHL Cup, running March 17-23 in Toronto.  The 5th place team will get a Wildcard Play In game on March 17, to try to earn a final spot in the OHL Cup.  If you can't make it down to Belleville, follow us on twitter @OshawaGens2004.

Thanks to everyone who came out to support the team tonight - what a great game and even better finish!!
