Hockey Update
Submitted By Lynn Jennings on Saturday, August 1, 2020
To all OMH families, coaches and volunteers:

As some of you may now know, yesterday July 31st, 2020, the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) released their updated Return to Hockey Framework. This document contains a more detailed description of the various programming allowed for within Stage 3 which has been further broken down into five phases – 3A to 3E.

Based on this information, we are currently in Stage 3A and will remain so until the end of August, with 3B hopefully starting in September.

While this is a step in the right direction there are still many questions regarding programming and seasonal structure for the upcoming season. We anticipate that  Ontario Minor Hockey  will release further guidelines in the coming days or weeks that we will also use to instruct us in our seasonal planning. Please note that all decisions are made in consultation with and must first be approved by local Public Health Units/Authorities as well as Municipal Facilities.

All of this said, it is our full intention to run programming this season within the parameters set out for us. What exactly this will look is still unknown, but will vary depending on age group and team/level (likely based on last season). What we do know for sure, is that hockey will look a bit different this year and it is with this in mind that we at Oshawa Minor will be working hard to set out the best programming possible for our players, parents and coaching staffs in a cost effective manner.

At this point our registration continues to be open with no payment required, and we encourage individuals to register if they intend to play this year since that will further help us in determining ice requirements and scheduling when planning programs. Once again we thank you all for your patience and understanding during this time of uncertainty and please continue to check the website for additional information over the coming weeks!
