“Army” Armstrong Award
Scholastic Achievement Minor Midget to Midget
“Army” Armstrong was an OMHA & OHA Referee. He served as President of Oshawa MHA from 1943 to 1945. This Award recognizes outstanding ability in combining Education and Hockey at the Secondary Level. Each Team nominates two players per team to be recognized for the Oshawa Minor Hockey Scholastic Award. Each of the nominees receives a plaque. From these nominees, the Awards Committee will select the Overall winner.

Marilyn Legree Award
Outstanding Forward Peewee To Midget
Award began in 1992. Marilyn was the Treasurer of Oshawa MHA for many years. An ‘Outstanding Hockey Mother’. Starting in 2003 there was one award for each AAA & AA. Starting in 2010 there are also awards for A & AE.

Gerald MacBeth Award
Outstanding Defenseman Peewee To Midget
Trophy began in 1957. Gerald MacBeth coached and assisted coaching staffs in the original Oshawa Minor ‘City League’. He was a long time hockey supporter and fan. Starting in 2003 there was one award for each AAA & AA. Starting in 2010 there are also awards for A & AE.

Douglas "Dutchy" Turner Award
Outstanding Goalie (AAA & AA)
This Award began in 1957. Dutchy was the goaltender on the Oshawa MHA All Ontario Championship 1937-38 Juvenile Team. He was the goaltender of the Oshawa Generals Memorial Cup Team of 1939-40, Oshawa MHA Executive member in the 1950’s & 60’s. Dutchy coached the Oshawa MHA All Ontario Championship 1957-58 Juvenile Team. Oshawa MHA Life Member. Two award winners each season - Novice to Minor Peewee and Peewee to Midget.

Darrell Walker Memorial Award
Outstanding Goalie - Peewee To Midget (A & AE)
Darrell Walker was a goaltender with the LNHL Midget Bruin. During the 1989-90 season, Darrell passed away due to an unfortunate accident. His family donated this Award in Darrell’s memory, to be awarded to the best goaltender team in the LNHL Midget Program in 1990. This Award has evolved from the best goalie team in the LNHL to the Outstanding Goalie Duo in the Oshawa MHA Peewee to Midget, A and AE Programs.

Adam Knight Memorial Award
Outstanding Goalie - Novice To Minor Peewee (A & AE)
Adam Knight was a promising young goaltender, playing in the LNHL during the 1988-90 seasons. In late 1989, Adam, his Mother, and Grandmother, were killed in a car crash. This Award was donated in 1994 to remember Adam as a very happy and committed goaltender, always giving his best with a smile.

Pilot Officer Edward Crawley Memorial Award
Most Sportsmanlike Player (AAA & AA)
This Award was started in 1947. Edward Crawley died in combat, with the RCAF, during World War Two. Starting 2003 an award was also presented to AA.

CAW Autoworkers Trophy
Hardest Working & Dedicated Player - Peewee To Midget
This award was started in 1954 by United Autoworkers Local 222. CAW Local 222 have been a longtime sponsor in Oshawa MHA. The trophy was originally awarded to Most Outstanding Player and then renamed to Hardest Working and Dedicated Player in 2009.

George Grills Award
Outstanding Atom Player - Minor / Major (A & AE)
Awarded annually to the outstanding Atom (Minor or Major) in the A/AE category. Originally known as the BJ Demarchant Trophy and awarded to the Atom LNHL Player with the Most Heart. Beginning in 2006 it was awarded to the Outstanding Player in Atom.

Jack Armstrong Award
Most Improved Player - Peewee To Midget
This Award began in 1976. Jack Armstrong served as a longtime coach in Oshawa MHA. He also was the coach of the Jr. B affiliate – Oshawa Crushmen. Starting in 2003 there was one award for each AAA & AA. Starting in 2010 there are also awards for A & AE.

Steve Kisil Memorial Award
Most Sportsmanlike Player - Peewee To Midget A & AE
Steve Kisil was a long time sponsor of the LNHL,Local businessman and Supporter of Oshawa Minor Hockey. This Award is presented to the player from Peewee to Midget that exemplifies sportsmanship and fair play in A & AE.

Eric Wesslby Trophy
Outstanding Player - Novice (AAA & AA)
Eric Wesslby was a respected coach in the LNHL, AA and AAA Rep Teams in Oshawa MHA. Eric was an Executive Member of both Oshawa MHA and Ontario MHA. He was the Sports Editor of the Oshawa Times daily newspaper. This award began in 1988

Vic Burr Trophy
Outstanding Player - Minor & Major Atom (AAA & AA)
Victor Burr was an Oshawa MHA Executive Member in the 1940’s and 1950’s He served as President from 1947 to 1948. This award began in 1965

Robert Wilson Award
Outstanding Player - Minor Peewee (AAA & AA)
Award began in 1965. He was the driving force for the building of Children’s Arena in 1956. Robert was Chair of the Oshawa Ice Distribution Committee in the 1950’s and 60’s.

Doug Skinner Award
Outstanding Player - Minor Peewee (A & AE)
Doug’s interest in Oshawa Minor Hockey went from 1963 until 1993. In 1993, the Oshawa Little NHL honoured Doug by naming this award after him. It started as the Outstanding Peewee Player in the LNHL and in 2007 grew to become the Outstanding Peewee Players (Minor/Major) in A & AE

Matt Leyden Memorial Award
Outstanding Player - Minor Or Major Bantam (AAA & AA)
This Award began in 1976. Matt Leyden was a long time hockey “builder” in Oshawa and the Province. He was Manager of the Oshawa Generals, 1937 through the 1950’s, Memorial Cup Championships in 1939, 1940, and 1944, Past President of the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) 1956 to 1967. Life Member of the OHA in 1972.

Donald Legree Award
Outstanding Player - Bantam & Midget (A & AE)
Don Legree served in various capacities in the LNHL for more then 20 years, Secretary for 13 years, Peewee Team Manager for 18 years, and many years as co-convenor of the Oshawa LNHL Peewee Tournament. Don received the CAHA Award for distinguished service, LNHL Executive of the Year two times, Life Member in Oshawa MHA. He retired as a Manager in 1987, but carried on volunteering for the LNHL & Oshawa MHA until 1993. This Award began in 1993, with AE added in 2006.

Keith Wilson Award
Outstanding Player - Minor Or Major Midget (AAA & AA)
This Award began in 1980. Keith Wilson was an Executive member of Oshawa MHA and Ontario MHA. Life Member of Oshawa MHA. Respected sponsor for years, Parkway TV Midgets. Starting in 2003 the award was presented to a member of AAA and AA.

Thomas Graham Trophy
Manager of the Year (AAA or AA)
Originally named the Presidents Trophy and awarded to Manager of the Year in AAA or AA. Renamed to Thomas Graham Trophy in 2006 to recognize long serving President of Oshawa MHA - Tom Graham.

Awarded annually to the Manager of the Year. Originally awarded to LNHL Manager in 1986, then changed to A Manager is 2001 and finally changed to A or AE Manager in 2006.

Coach of the Year (A or AE)
Originally awarded to the LNHL Coach of the Year. It was changed to Oshawa Minor A coach in 2001, and then updated in 2006 to include AE.
