Bantam AA - Bantam AA take GOLD!
Submitted By Bantam AA HC on Monday, November 13, 2017
Oshawa Minor Generals Bantam AA take GOLD at the 34th annual Tournament OF Champions in Stoney Creek this past weekend. Congratulations to the boys on a very tough, hard-fought tournament. Excellent team play this weekend. The team came together as a unit and played amazing. All the games were close with some exciting OT wins and some tense moments for everyone!

Started off with a loss in the first game and then never looked back. Finished round robin 3-1-0 and locked up first place in our division heading into semi's. After a tough match in semis we played 2 hours later in the finals. Finished tournament 5-1-0 led by outstanding goal tending performances by Tremblay and MacDonald. They battled hard all weekend made some incredible highlight reel saves and gave us a chance to win each and every game. With 2 of our D out with injuries a special thanks to C. Longhurst and his family from the Bantam A team who took the time to join us this weekend. Longhurst played outstanding on the blue-line all weekend.
It was a fun and exciting weekend at the hotel.  Although busy the team had a chance to bond with a nice family diner as well as a player & coaches breakfast. Lots of fun in the atrium for everyone at night and the boys even managed to get in some pool time.
It was nice to see all the siblings and grandparents attend and support the boys!

Thank you to our Manager – Sue Wallace for planning and setting everything up and making it a smooth and fun weekend for everyone.

Thank you to the parents for all your support, time and cheering on the boys this weekend!

Last but not least thank you to our staff, Greg our Trainer , George AC, and Chris AC - great job this weekend boys, thank you!

Nail bitter! Late penalty in the game and we are down 6-4 with Welland goalie pulled.  Face-off in our end with 10 seconds left. Scramble in front of the net and bodies everywhere. The puck popped loose and rolled in blue paint heading in. With our goalie down, the puck almost on the goal line Sauve managed to break free from scrum and push puck into the corner with 2 seconds left where he kept it until the buzzer went to end the game!
