Minor Peewee AAA Gens Battle Hard in Tough Tournament
The Rockbrune Bros. Movers Minor Peewee AAA Minor Generals started their season with a tough set of tests in the Toronto Marlboros International Friendship Tournament.
Thursday evening, the Gens came out flat in the 1st period falling behind 3-0, and despite outshooting the Rangers in the 3rd, were unable to capitalize and dropped the opener 4-0.
On Friday afternoon, the Gens faced the defending OMHA Champion Burlington Eagles and jumped out to an early lead, only to fall behind late in the second. Despite excellent offensive pressure in the 3rd, the Gens were unable to draw even, dropping a hard fought battle 2-1.
On Friday evening, the Gens faced GTHL powerhouse Toronto Nationals, and once again were within one shot of drawing even as the final horn sounded to a 2-1 Gens loss.
Saturday afternoon, the Gens met up with the tournament favourite Detroit Belle Tire. While the team played a strong game, they were unable to find the net on a strong Detroit defense, but also held the strong Detroit offence to just 3 goals (2 late in the 3rd) in a 3-0 loss.
From game 1 to game 4, the boys held their own with some very tough competition and everyone showed improvement as we prepare to head to Boston this weekend.
