As the Head
Coach of the 2016/17 Oshawa Minor Generals AAA Major Midget Team, I am inviting
all 1999 and 2000’s to come out to our tryouts.
Here is a little about me.
My Philosophy
I recognize the importance of and promote players to develop a positive attitude, strong work ethic and personal character. As well, I strive to develop the individual hockey and leadership skills of each player and help them to utilize those skills within the team environment. I feel it is important to motivate players to have confidence which will facilitate learning, and to teach respect, integrity and honesty. In order to teach those characteristics, I need to be a positive role model in all interactions with players, coaches, and officials.
· Born and raised in Orangeville, On
· Played over 20 years of high level hockey including Junior C, B & A levels.
· Offered NCAA hockey scholarship at Middlebury College, Vermont.
· Accepted a full scholarship at Seneca College and played for Seneca Braves Hockey Team
· On-ice instructor for Eastern Ontario Junior A Camp, Can-Am Hockey School, and Canadian Power Skating School.
· Completed Development 1 and High Performance 1 Coach Certifications
· Assistant Coach for two Junior C organizations.
· Jr. C Regional Scout
• 2015/16 - Head Coach AAA Major Midget Team. Best attended tryout since start of OHF Pilot Program that eliminated borders.
· 2014/15 - Head Coach AA Minor Midget Team; first time team advanced to Tri-County Quarter Finals. Five of my players were recruited to Prep school in the United States. Two other players have been scouted for Junior A.
· Director/Head Instructor MVP Player Development, have been involved in development of players and coaches with organizations, teams, and individuals
· My goal is to promote the highest level of skill development in players through the use of high tempo practice plans, to encourage players to accept disciplined team play and conduct themselves with integrity on and of off the ice. I want to enable various hockey opportunities for all my players.
I have been involved in high level hockey for over 35 years. I will share my experiences and knowledge gained to help those who play for me to grow and improve. My goal is to have each player improve and develop to be prepared to make the transition to the next level in their hockey careers. I will also showcase the team at major tournaments to get the players exposure to scouts and recruiters to give the players as many options as possible for the future.
I truly believe that at the end of next season players from my team will be able to step into valuable roles for their next team.
