Minor Bantam A WINS Jim Wilson GMC Classic
This past weekend the Minor Bantam A team traveled to Orillia to participate in the Jim Wilson GMC Winter Classic.  Team members, coaches, family and friends enjoyed a great weekend of hockey!  The Minor Bantam A team came out strong  Friday night in their game against the Ottawa Golden Knights.  Their strong fore-check and relentless back checking was too much for our opponent and the boys took the first game 2-0.

Our next game early Saturday morning had the team face off against the Sudbury Wolves.  Down 1 nothing early in the game, the team had a sense of calm and an attitude that they were going to get it done.  During the second period, the boys bounced back and defeated the Sudbury team  (winning 5-2).  After a long 10 hour gap and small delay we were set to play the Temiskaming Puck Hounds.  The boys skated strong all game long, moved the puck well and played a complete game. The outstanding goal tending, optimistic attitudes and great effort and teamwork by all players helped them win a hard fought battle taking it 1-0. The 3-0 games win for the Minor Bantam A team made them top-ranked, sending them directly to the finals to play against the highly skilled and host team Orillia Terriers. Our opponent matched our style of play and hard grinding hockey was on tap for the finals. Our boys displayed relentless fore-checking and back-checking.  Trailing 1-0, then 2-1, the boys never gave up, scoring late in the 3rd period to tie it 2-2.  The momentum shifted and Oshawa had 4 shots on net in the last minute to almost take the victory in regulation.  It came down to a shoot out. Our goalie Ben Rutledge was ready and stopped all 3 shooters for the tournament win!Congratulations to all the boys on a well deserved win.  Your coaches are very proud of you!
