OSHAWA U16A RED WENT UNDEFEATED TO WIN THE NASHVILLE CHALLENGE CUP
The U16A Red team travelled to Nashville to participate in the Nashville Challenge Cup. The team defeated the Oshawa Generals U16A White team in a nail-biting final that ended in a shootout, after both teams traded a couple of goals during regulation time. The ten minutes of overtime 3 vs. 3 solving nothing, but not without both teams getting their chances. The team showed their resilience and determination throughout the game, Jake Weatherbee scored both goals in regulation time.  Emmerson Bates secured the win making some spectacular saves along the way.  Austin Egerton scored the decisive shootout goal to seal the victory.


The team’s 4-0 record in round robin play was the result of a true team effort, defeating teams from Nashville (3-1), Philadelphia (5-1), Illinois (1-0) and Las Vegas (6-3). Their solid goaltending and goals against led them to first place after the round robin play.

Congratulations to the gold medal team which consists of goalies Emmerson Bates and Ewan Bennett, defencemen Lucas Black, Spencer Cordell, Calum Forrester, Jace Imrie and Allan Zhang and forwards Jake Bidgood, Brady Cleary, Dylan Craven, Austin Egerton, Race Fairfull, Noah Gallant, Clayton Galusha, Jacob Kessinis, Jake Weatherbee, and Brady Wheeler. Team staff are Head Coach Doug Bennett, Assistant Coach Mark Evans, Assistant Coach Mike Hubble, Trainer and Goalie Coach Nick Bates, Trainer Peter Fairfull and Manager Dawn Gallant. A big thank you to all the players, coaches, and families for their support and for making this a fun and memorable weekend.

The entire U16A Red team would like to congratulate Oshawa U16A White on their great tournament as well. Both Oshawa teams showed why Canada is #1 in hockey.
