Lakeshore U9 MD Championship Finalists!
This past weekend, the Oshawa Generals U9 Blue travelled to Kingston to compete in the Lakeshore U9 MD Championships.
The boys came ready to compete and play hard all weekend. On Friday, the first game was a hard fought battle with the Peterborough Petes falling down by a goal with 48 seconds left only to come right back and tie it 18 seconds later! The second game tested their resilience as they came out in the third period with hard fought determination to win the game 5-1 against the Quinte West Golden Hawks.
On Saturday, they continued their hard work with a 2-1 win over the Belleville Bulls. In the second game, they fought hard against the Ajax-Pickering Raiders but fell short in a 5-2 loss. The score does not tell the whole story as they started to put the rest of the tournament on notice that they were here to play.
Very early Sunday morning, the boys came together as a team to put together their second strongest game of the weekend against the Belleville Bulls and came away with a 5-2 win in the Semi-Finals.
The Championship Game against the Peterborough Petes was the ultimate test of their determination and resilience as they put together an incredible team effort. After 30 minutes, the game was tied at 0-0. The boys were relentless in their attack on the puck but came up against a hot goalie on the other side. The 3-on-3 overtime continued to test them as a penalty was called in the middle. Overtime ended and a shootout would decide the game.
We are extremely proud of every player on this team as they became the U9 MD Championship Finalists. They worked hard all year and every player improved significantly. They earned the right to be in the championship and should be very proud of themselves as well!
