Last Saturday the Oshawa Minor Generals AE Bantam squad teamed up with the
Durham Regional Police (DRP), and donated toys to help bring
smiles to Durham children in need this holiday season.
One of the primary objectives of our Minor Gens coaching staff, led by Head Coach Mike Mahnke, is to teach the players through hockey, the skills they need to become great citizens of tomorrow. On the ice, our players learn how to win with grace, how to lose with class, the value of effort, and the power of unity.
The DRP Food & Toy Drive gave our players the opportunity to unite beyond their own team to feel the joy of giving, helping and making a difference in their community. This weekend, they contributed to the perpetual cycle of giving, by gladly donating to the community who has given them over the years – the privilege of representing Durham’s city of Oshawa, as Minor Generals.
Thank you to Constable Darryl Rice and Detective Shaun Arnott (the latter of whom is also a Minor Gens coach) from the Durham Regional Police, for making this possible.
