In a thrilling culmination to a season of hard-fought battles on
the ice, the Oshawa Minor Hockey U14C team landed a first place title as
Lakeshore Champions in the final round of playoffs against Ajax-Pickering
Raiders. The team’s resilience was on full display over the final series as
they overcame challenges with grit and tenacity.
The
championship game on Sunday, March 24 was a testament to the team’s strategic
plays, solid defense, and an offense that kept the pressure on their opponents
with a convincing 9-2 win in Game 3. All cards were on the table for this game,
after a 4-0 win and a 3-3 tie from the first two games of the series.
With outstanding goaltending during playoffs by duo Nathan
Funaro and Cooper McNutt, they stood by the high standard they set during the
regular season. Making clutch saves, they motivated the team to succeed every
step of the way.
This grand finale was not just a win for the team, but a win for
families and friends who have supported these young athletes since their first
steps on the ice. Thanks to the unwavering commitment from players and coaches,
to the game they love. Congratulations to the Oshawa Minor Hockey U14C team for
their outstanding achievement in the Lakeshore Championship!
