Call it a Comeback!
Going up against long-time rivals Peterborough Petes is always a passion-filled adventure for the Oshawa Generals.  Last Saturday evening in Peterborough was no exception.  Down by 2 goals after the 1st period, our Minor Bantam AE Generals stayed mentally tough and engaged their “no-quit” attitude from back-end to front-end.   The Gens swayed the game’s momentum with four consecutive goals to come out on top, 4-2, silencing the Petes and stretching their streak of undefeated games to seven!

The Pete’s came out flying in the 1st period with two goals, first capitalizing on a rebound and then rattling a bar-down bullet into our net.  Despite an ongoing blitz of shots and hits, the Pete’s success on the night would end there.   Our Generals held off Peterborough for the remainder of the first period, slowly throwing them off-stride.  In the 2nd period, the Petes became frustrated as they were unable to penetrate our General’s army of determined ice-warriors.  Between the pipes, aggressive net-minding slammed the door shut.  Our defensive core intercepted incoming threats, bravely took knocks from hard hitting Petes and consistently erupted from their own zone.  Meanwhile, our offense penetrated the Pete’s armor to get on the score board, cut the lead in half…and let the comeback begin.

On the bench, our coaching team relayed “key intel” to the Gens, and leveraged their heroic second period progress to breath fearless motivation into what would become an unstoppable 3rd period team – who believed! The Gens hit the ice in the 3rd scoring three unanswered goals.  First the equalizer found the back of the Pete’s net in fine fashion, then a precision-placed go-ahead goal left the Pete’s in shock that they were now trailing.  With six Peterborough skaters on the ice and an empty net, the Gens continued their 3rd period “David vs. Goliath” game plan.  The surprised Pete’s were thrown back on their heels as the all-heart Gens delivered their own dose of clever, physical play.  The mighty Pete’s fell heavily after an all-important empty-net goal secured victory for the Gens, as they won in exciting style.

Thank you to our inspirational coaches who voluntarily empower our players with the attitude and knowledge needed for success, and to our ultra-organized team manager who tirelessly keeps team operations ticking.  Next up tonight – Clarington TorosGO GENS GO!!!!!!!!
