The Gens opened their tournament with a heartbreaking last second loss to the eventual semi-finalist Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday morning
After a slow start saw the Gens fall behind 1-0 early in the 1st, the Gens worked hard to get back in the game, with B Strzelczyk finally solving the solid Hamilton goaltender midway through the 3nd period to tie things up, with L Pye and P Kellett drawing assists.
R Kowalenko gave the Gens the lead on a friendly bounce with just under 5 minutes to go in the 3rd, with an assist going to E Blouin.
However, with just over a minute remaining in the 3rd the Bulldogs tied the game on a net side scramble, and then with under a second left to play, the Bulldogs broke the Gens hearts.
